My Sexuality

Inspired by some of my on-line friends I wanted to write down my stories about my sexuality.  I'm learning that my sexuality is so much deeper and richer than just "when I first had vaginal intercourse."  Many of my post-evangelical friends are coming to this realization too and I want to contribute to the discovery of humans as sexual beings in a larger context than just married vaginal intercourse.  Because even people who choose celibacy are still sexual beings.  These are my stories, starting from the very beginning.  I would love for you to contribute too!  Write you story on your own blog and link it in the comments section, or e-mail your story to me at larissachristine2009 at gmail dot com.  I'd love post a variety of stories.  No judgment here.  Only learning.

This is one of my favorite posts on the purity culture:  The Psychology of the Purity Culture by Richard Beck.

My First Post on Sexuality

  1. Hmmmmm...are you asking for your friends and readers to write about their own sexual history? This isn't a thing that I write about on my blog, but I might be able to write something down with some thought and some time...
Let me leave this thought: I see sexuality as a totally natural and human yearning. Children experience it and there is no shame is simply experiencing what the body does.
Teens experience it strongly. The awakening of sexual feelings and of longing for relationships can be a truly beautiful thing.
Adults, of course, can experience sexual connection with other adults as the basis for a deeply satisfying emotional relationship. Or not.
I believe that adult sexual choices, when made with the consent of other adults, are all acceptable and enjoyable. I believe in privacy as well as comfort with any level of openness.
